Katie Vasenina has a diverse educational and professional background. She earned her M.A. in Global Sustainability and her M.S. in Exercise Science at the University of South Florida and is also a former professional tennis player. Her research at USF focused on skeletal muscle adaptations to resistance exercise, exploring the effects of blood flow restriction on muscle size and strength, and investigating low-load alternatives to traditional resistance exercise.
Currently, in her third year of pursuing a PhD at the University of Central Florida, Katie’s research is centered on sports science and the impact of various supplements on muscle recovery following muscle-damaging protocols. Her dedication to her field is underscored by her impressive publication record, with over 15 peer-reviewed manuscripts in her area of expertise.
Katie is not only an accomplished researcher, but she is also a Certified Sports Nutritionist (CISSN) accredited by the International Society of Sports Nutrition. She is an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine and holds certification as a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) tennis coach. Her versatility extends to the world of bodybuilding, as she has successfully competed in several NPC Bikini competitions.
